Star Wars ComLINKS: Favorite Scene From Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels

Star Wars ComLINKS is a monthly link up by Anakin And His Angel centered around the galaxy far, far away. This month’s ComLINKS is about our favorite scene from season 4 of Star Wars Rebels.

To round out all the Star Wars Rebels series finale discussion, I thought I’d participate in this month’s Star Wars ComLINKS talking about my favorite scene from season 4.

There were a lot.

The latter half of this season was absolutely phenomenal. I loved every single episode and picking one scene is really hard, but I have to say that Hera and Kanan stole my heart in season 4 (besides Ahsoka, of course). By default I would totally pick Ahsoka’s powerful entrance in the finale (but it was a millisecond) and Rebels was about the Ghost Crew–Hera, Ezra, Kanan, Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper. So, my favorite scene from season 4 was in “Wolves and a Door” when Hera decides to trust Zeb and let Ezra and Sabine continue infiltrating the Jedi temple on Lothal.

This scene occurs just a few days after the Ghost crew lost Kanan Jarrus. Watching Hera struggle with her loss was emotional and the fact that she had to continue and fight on was heartbreaking. In this scene she becomes worried about Ezra and Sabine who are struggling to keep things together while disguised as stormtroopers. She knows how important the mission is, but after losing Kanan she feels extra protective and wants to cut the mission short when she finds out Emperor Palpatine is involved. Zeb comforts her and tells her to remember why they came. In this moment, Kanan’s force ghost appears and puts his hand on Hera’s shoulder. Hera, unknowingly, puts her hand on his and can almost feel Kanan’s presence.

She then decides to allow Sabine and Ezra to continue the mission. Zeb goes on to say “they’ll be fine,” to which Hera replies “I used to always believe that.” This scene broke me. It’s a beautiful and emotional shot that made me tear up when I first saw it. Hera’s reply to Zeb is so sad because she realizes that not everyone is going to make it to the end. Sigh.

This was a pivotal moment because it allowed Hera to move forward in the grieving process. She comes to terms with the fact that the mission must go on, the fight against the Empire must go on, and she needs to go on.

Season 4 is filled with glorious moments that made me laugh and cry. Star Wars Rebels is over, but it will never be forgotten. It was a journey that I am proud to have been apart of and I cannot wait to revisit these characters and stories in the future!
